Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8a.m. - 5 p.m. (closed noon-1pm for lunch)

Our main office is located in Gatesville on the north side of Highway 84 about 1/4 mile east of Highway 36 / Highway 84 intesection (behind the baseball fields and next to the Coryell County Activities Complex).

Our mission is to provide quality, relevant outreach and continuing education programs and services to the citizens, agencies, and organizations of Coryell County.

Coryell County is square in shape and has an area of about 1,057 square miles or 676,249 acres. The major agricultural land uses are cattle ranching and crops production. The annual estimated agricultural income for producers is 50-60 million dollars. Agricultural productivity and economics are readily addressed by Extension programs and agent consultations. Home lawn, garden and landscape questions are answered individually on a daily basis at the office, or agent can give specific program to clubs, organizations, etc. Annual programs done are Pesticide Applicator License Trainings, Small Grain Plot Field Tour, County Hay Show, Beef & Forage Field Day and Corn/Sorghum Variety Demo Field Day. The agent assists members and families at major shows to develop strong agricultural leaders for our future.

The FCS program for 2008 will focus on 4 main subject matter areas: Nutrition Education, Diabetes Education, Child Passenger Safety and Food Safety. The FCS program can address issues such as basic nutrition, reducing fat, cholesterol and sodium, increasing fruit and vegetable intake, and the new My Pyramid guide. Education can occur via lecture, handouts, hands-on activities and one-on-one counseling. The FCS Agent is currently a certified Child Passenger Safety technician who is able to teach parents and caregivers how to correctly install and use child safety seats.

Coryell County 4-H membership is open to all youth within the county who are 8 years of age and in the third grade through 18 years old. Coryell County 4-H offers many project areas such as livestock, foods and nutrition, clothing and textiles, photography, public speaking, and recordbooks. Preparing youth to be positive contributing members of society is one of the most important tasks facing our society today.
